The Roman Bridge of Cangas de Onís was declared a National Monument in 1931. Its construction is on the river Sella, which separates the counties of Parres and Cangas de Onis.
Despite being called the Roman Bridge, it was actually built in medieval times, in the reign of Alfonso XI of Castile, or rebuilt on an existing bridge of Roman origin.
Although there is no proof of its origin, the bridge has a high arch and two smaller ones, which could be a reconstruction with Roman origin. In the highest arch there is the reproduction of the Cross of the Victory, great local importance because it is the symbol of Asturias.
