The result of the extensive knowledge of engineering and agriculture of the Tayronas, is Buriticá 200, or ´´ Lost City´´ a complex of terraces and muddy roads, which communicated with each other the towns, retaining walls, cisterns, water tanks, pipes to regulate the course of rivers and streams.

Warnings:

For religious and cultural reasons, indigenous people avoid being photographed themselves, their houses and their objects. Don't insist, don't bother them, don't invade their privacy. They are a very peaceful community, but extremely sensitive to the intrusion of strangers. Lost City is a sacred place. Simply moving a stone around causes disturbance to the natives.

From this pre-Hispanic culture there are remains of more than 200 urban settlements that for centuries were covered by the jungle. Ciudad Perdida is located in the middle of a very broken region and its access takes several days. The trip to the city, made on foot, takes about a week between the round trip, to go to ´´Lost City´´ special permits are required from the Ministry of the Environment and the Institute of Anthropological Research. Excursions can be scheduled from Santa Marta but we recommend checking the current public order situation since it is an area that can be dangerous.
